RoHS Directive of the European Parliament

Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment of 8 June 2011 (recast) and Commission Delegate Directive (EU) 2015/863 of 31 March 2015 amending Annex II to Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the list of substances subject to restrictions.
Directive 2011/65/EU restricts the use and marketing of lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium VI, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in certain electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). It came into force in July 2011 and replaces the old Directive 2006/95/EC of 12 December 2006. Directive 2011/65/EU has been transposed into national law in Germany by the Elektro- und Elektronikgeräte-Stoff-Verordnung (ElektroStoffV).
With Directive 2011/65/EU, a process has been implemented to be able to add additional substances in the future. This process was used for the first time in the Delegated Directive (EU) 2015/863 to include the substances di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), butylbenzyl phthalate (BBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), as well as category 11 "other electrical and electronic equipment not falling into any of the above categories" into the scope of the existing RoHS Directive. The transition period for this ended on 22 July 2019.

HELUKABEL® GmbH is in constant dialogue and exchange of information with its suppliers in order to be able to react to possible further restrictions of substances.
